2011 a year of ups and downs

Well 2011 is nearly over and what a year its been with it up and downs,

I guess i have to start this with the start of the Blacktop TV blog,
before i started Blacktop tv i used to make films under a youtube username of Cambcarvideo
and at the beginning of the year i decided i would try and take it a bit seriously,
so on April 5th 2011 i started the blog, My first item made under blacktop tv was an single car feature on a friends of mines eunos roadster which i always promised i would re-shoot as
it came out rather poor, but unfortantly he has now sold up and driving a dirty derv golf.



I then moved on to my next project which was the first South mimms Honda meet,
of 2011 again with my samsung camera i headed down to the south mimms meet to get some footage and catch up with a few friends and check there cars after winter overhaul



I then had my first drift video of the year with a few of the cabletieracing drifters down santa pod



and continuing with the drift theme i shot two film for the first 2 rounds of the BDC as i went to give support to semi-pro driver Lewis Cracknell




Then in June i headed off to japshow at santa pod but stupidly forgot the camcorder
but ended up with a DSLR to get a few check snaps. and then i got myself a new camcorder which ona few little tests provided alot better footage of which i used for my second south mimms honda film



Its now that when the bad came into play on the 15th of June my (ex)Girlfriend of the last 2 years left me for one of the founders of my local car club at which point you might have seen a post about me shutting down blacktop for good, well after loosing alot of friend and then to actually lose a friend, Richard Leadon of WSC and CTR passed away after a motorbike accident
i decided to reopen the blog for one post a little tribute to him

After this i kind of abandoned blacktop tv as i had kinda lost all interest in car at all i sold up my Honda civic and bought a is200 and just lived life like cars were well just cars,

After a few small chats with a few People i kinda got my act together and started to build up my car life again, i now joined JDM-register and got to no some of the main guys rob,liam and shorty(rob) of which i must thank them for being so welcoming i have no been to 3 of there meets this year and are very enjoyable.

It was now time for the final mimms meet of the year so i head down with the civic life convoy from east anglia where i then made this



Coming towards the final months of the year i got a text from an old friend from Cabletieracing
saying there going down to a dwyb at Santa pod and would i like to come, so i headed down with my camcorder of which broke on the day so thankfully Dan Timpson happened to have a very nice Panasonic sd900 with him which is alot more than the little cheep things i had been using and this time i had remembered to take a high viz so i could get out on track and well this was the result

And i was amazed by the quality of this camera and i produced my best film yet and if you spent some time reading this you will have noticed i hope that the progression in my films has been alot over the few months of this year.

So i thankyou for watching as im now heading for 3k page views and my stats page shows views from all over the world be it Canada, Australia, norway or anywere else i wish you a good New Year and hopefully you will tune in over the next 12 months as things are getting better

im looking to expand blacktop tv next year it would be nice to get a few people from around the uk or even the world that wants to make films for blacktop tv as my line of work often taken me away for long period of time it would be nice to get some dedicated people to keep the posts coming.

And anyone of you who knows me will no im mad about drifting so i have purchased a red 200sx s13
so keep and eye for updates on my hooligan activities across the next year

Blacktop goes to the Skidema

right with out sounding full of myself this is personally my favorite film i have produced, but after spending 3 hours on track and recording my camera went stupid and stopped working then deleted everything. Thankfully i'd had use of an even better camera for this, the film was edited in windows movie maker as im yet to invest in some new software for the new laptop and my editing is well pretty poor but any how enjoy.

Right Guys after a few shakey months after a horrible ending of a relationship and loosing all intrested in my video and well my hobbies in general, Im back but this time im going to hit it hardcore expect video often from all sorts of meet, show and events and expect a few cheeky single car features and maybe who knows what else but if i hear of it, attened it, i will shoot it and i will make a film out of it

RIP richard leadon

Well i dunno how to start this but i have re-opened Blacktop TV to share this video i have no credit for the video but a member of several local Cambridge car club past away last night.
as part of Cabletie racing i had not meet Richard Leadon on many occasions as he had only recently joined the club but Im fully aware he was a big part of the west Suffolk cruisers and will be very missed.

are thoughts are with the family and friends

SOUTH MIMMS HONDA PART 2

well once again i found my self at a service station on the London orbital (m25) in the blistering heat walking around a car park full of some of the UK finest Honda's unfortunately it seem a bit quieter than last time but still a very good afternoon catching up with a few people since last time and having a nose about there cars anyway, the day before i treated my self to a new Panasonic HD camcorder but as a idiot i ended up setting it to record in IFRAME so i have been spending ages trying to find convert that will change it for me and i think it has dampened down the quality a bit but enough talk enjoy

well last night was the monthly CableTie Racing meet but oli and martyn had heard news of a chairty car meet in newmarket so off we went






But when we arrived it turns out this meet was more like a cruise
with cars of all shapes and styles

Well my first actual show of the year. Me and simon parr headed down to Santa pod to join the Hondacivicforum.co.uk guys on there stand for the day, unfortantly i didnt take my video camera i no ino FAIL as its blacktop tv but today its just blacktop.

BDC rd2 - in to the arena by brookies

British Drift Championship hits norfolk arena in for RD2

Right last saturday me and the family went down to norfolk arena for rd2 as i wanted to show them what drifting is and why id like to do it and well my mum wanted to go and scream and hassle shane lynch so off she went if you ever read this shane im sorry, anyway the driver i went to give my support lewis cracknell came 4th in semi pro just missing a podium spot and its the first time ive ever had that feeling that i imagine hardcore football supports get in the final minutes of a important game, but with his dad, girlfriend (gina) and some of the Cabletie crew shouting his name when ever his name was shouted out across the tanoy, espically when the support battle against mark lappage supporters was on going and its because of this atmosphere that i love BDC anyway heres my short film from the event take it as a bit of an appertiser for the amazing stephen brooks film

WOW just WOW another amazing video made by vince and his aatomotion outfit im highly impressed with this guys work, i have lots of repsect for what he does and he is one of the people that made me want to make car culture videos but damn ive got along way to go. anyway enjoy

right this is a bit overdue but hey, was a hot april afternoon with hundreds of hondas and even some from abroad, this was initally the first video i was supposed to do under blacktoptv but that didnt happen and to be honest im not happy at all with the footage i shot so enjoy what is anyway

WOW, what a day i had its been a long time ive had such a great day out with such a great bunch of people here the vid i promised for martyn and dan and im happy with it i had loads more footage so an extended version may appear soon for now heres this version and look out for some cool pictures of the day from matt cole .

BDC DONNINGTON

well after a great weekend at BDC donnington unfortantly the driver i originaly went to support lewis cracknell in the semi pro class (car 33) didnt qualify still a briliant weekend and superb atmosphere shame most people that when to watch drifitng couldnt because all the people for the FIA truck racing had come over and were infront of 80% of the bdc supporters but saying that the bdc might have a few more fans. I have now thrown toghter all the footage, trust me its no brookies film but im learning and from 100ft away and a fence is hard to get anything decent will the cheap samsung hd video camera i got any way heres the vid enjoy and ill be at round 2 in norfolk in may 21-22 get there.

more drifting for usa

right after going to BDC at donnington, i have decided that if i want to drift im gonig to actual do it rather than dream so i have been looking for small cheapish cars that i could learn to skid in before stepping up to some power as after reading some threads on driftworks they all say start small and get a bucket seat coilovers and plenty off seat time so that my plan cars ive been looking at so far are a e30 bmw a mk1 mx5 or if i can be bother with the engine fails of a cheap s13, any way whilst looking for eveidence of e30 and mx5 actually drifting i found this vid and really enjoyed it so thought i would share enjoy

Blacktop TV:Oli Cracknell

i meet up with a good friends of mine oli cracknell one night recently to have some pratice at featuring one car in a video, so i had a go unfortantly the poor camera i have i have never used at night and well its usless so im going to have to invest in a new one but for now enjoy, thank you, a better video will be produced later in year when lighter nights are avalible

well one of my favorite things of when i owned my old civic was the mimms meets, so now i have another honda i went to the first one in 2011 and it will be the first video under blacktop and first film in about a year so be nice when it goes live

right january last year i made this video of martyn carter, lewis cracknell and jack futter having a dwyb day, well now in 2011 martyn will be competeing in the ODC and lewis in the BDC so expect some close footage following there story
